ABOUT ME
PERSONAL
My name is Armann. Pronounced "Ourman" if you can't roll your r's. :).
I'm from Iceland where I currently live with my beautiful wife, three children and yes, two dogs and four cats! So our home is full and always exciting.

My hobbies besides anything Linux related is skateboarding, boxing, cars, counterstrike, and traveling.

I love learning new things and documenting how they work, but what I truly enjoy is sharing that knowledge with others and hopefully making a difference for someone.

I’ve been working in IT since 2000—almost the last century, yikes! Along the way, diverse work experiences and cultures have shaped my strong sense of teamwork, motivation, and purpose, while honing my ability to learn and adapt.

Since 2022, I’ve had the privilege of working as a Linux administrator for several of Iceland’s largest and most prominent companies. In this role, I’ve gained extensive experience managing complex systems and ensuring their reliability, security, and performance.

I spent five years working in Canada, an experience that was both challenging and incredibly rewarding. During this time, my "soft skills" flourished as I transitioned from the binary world of technology to a more people-focused role. This shift allowed me to develop stronger communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, enhancing my ability to work effectively with others.

I played a key role in designing, installing, and managing the backend infrastructure for all airports in Iceland. This involved architecting robust systems that support critical airport operations, ensuring they are reliable, secure, and scalable.
